PowerFlushing is a safe and clean method of removing sludge and scale from central heating systems, increasing efficiency and reducing running costs...

How is PowerFlushing carried out?

The power flushing pump is simply connected into your central heating system by the most suitable method. This can be either done using the standard circulator pump couplings, across the tails of one radiator, or wherever most practicable depending on your installation. The machine works by pumping water at a much higher speed than usual through the heating system. By using specially designed chemicals to loosen and get harmful corrosion deposits moving, these then become suspended in the water and they are then filtered out of the system. The chemicals used work better in heated water so the power flushing pump that we use has its own inbuilt heating element. This means that we can work to the highest standards even is a boiler is not working properly yet.

Once the sludge and debris has been loosened it is then purged from the system using clean water. When power flushing is complete the central heating system contains fresh clean water to which an inhibitor is then added. This chemical inhibitor is added to minimise corrosion going forward and to ensure that you get the best performance from your system and prolong its lifespan. On completion of works reinstatement of the central heating system to normal operation takes only a few minutes.

We use the Proflush Professional Powerflushing Machine, pictured, which was specifically designed to PowerFlush central heating systems as a means of efficiently dealing with system corrosion

Part of the process involves each individual radiator being flushed, without the need to remove or disconnect them from the system. This is done by directing the full output of the pump through each radiator separately. Power flushing is not a high pressure operation, so no undue pressure is applied to existing pipe work. Power flushing is suitable for most domestic wet central heating systems.

The MagMaster filtration system, pictured, is deigned to trap the oxidised sludge and prevent it being re-introduced back into the system

It involves minimal disturbance and disruption to the normal operation of the system. A free survey and no obligation quote is available, during the site visit you will be able to ask our engineer any questions that you may have.
